The magical identity hides hate

The article: The Magical Illusion of a Christian America
raises ideas of religious identity or indeed anti religious identity. I felt to comment thus:

Definitions SEEM to bring a sense of identity in stability and thus an illusion of control along with an inherent bias of self-specialness that makes them rigidly defended against change rather than fluidly part of an unfolding conscious appreciation of that which identifies Life, Self and Meaning as an ever fresh recognition and extension of value.

Definitions are part of the current experience of the human consciousness but are generally not recognized as human conditioning except by those who would mask a private agenda behind the appearance that has become accepted in place of the tangible presence of value.

'Christian' thus comes to mean whatever anyone decides it means to them in absence of any demonstration of Christ love extended in recognition.
In other words, the mind redefines all things unto its own image and then seeks to prevail, that is, to make its version 'true' by invalidation or denying threat to its 'identity', that is held sacrosanct and not open to question or revision excepting it will 'evolve' in terms of adapting and surviving - including dropping significant aspects of the identity to change the form of the mask.

Personal identity is defence within a presumption of threat and hostility. It may join with others in mutual agreements that make a relative peace but always as a group that defends itself likewise.

Everything remains open for Humanity to accept and embrace its true and abundant inheritance BUT for the assertion of personal will upon a true or honest communication - for Life Is Communication - not merely information but the relational dance of meanings discovered, embraced and shared.

The Jesus story and its teaching are exactly illuminating this facet of the human conditioning, but instead of accepting the message, the messenger was made special, separate, and no longer an example in which to recognize our own Life. If anything it generally became subverted to the old religion of guilt and sacrifice of joy for this has been the way of the world.

A lie seeks whatever works to justify itself and thus adulterates the currency of exchange with division and coercive reaction. It may not believe itself a liar, but if asserting certainty as a way of denying self-doubt, the truth is not being communicated because it is feared.
More than that, what is being communicated is actively working to protect against such fear being brought to awareness and to prevent exposure of whatever tricks are being employed to obfuscate, or sow dissension or diversion from critical points.

The personal identity is in a sense a fig-leaf lie that finds mutually agreed currency and reinforcement by conflict and reaction as much as by agreement.
Who are we beneath our mask? We are that which can truly know and be known. We are the freedom to persist in mask or be open to communication. But within the mask we believe that what is behind the mask is fearful and unacceptable. Until we look within and uncover our true humanity - which we do not manufacture or distort except by taking image and worshipping it.
Kindness is of a kind. Self-specialness is inherent un-kindred. There is a core psychology that can be noticed regardless of the cultural packaging, and identifying this psychology within our own conscious responsibility is waking from the spell of reactive defence to a truly grounded presence - that will then express itself in every kind of cultural or innovative way - but as a willingness of extending an honest presence in which to recognize the other as ourself instead of wanting otherness to be the dumping ground of our unowned and unhealed hatred.
I've gone into a particular direction in this comment, but the illusion of a mask is already magic. Seeing the illusion is breaking the spell. Not to attack the mask or the choice to use it - but to open up a channel of communication where before there was none.

I wish I could agree with the conclusion. We've got quite a way to go to become a nation of tolerance. Sadly.

My reply:

The idea of tolerance is brought into being by intolerance. Likewise patience is called on amidst impatience.
But a genuine willingness to relate, to listen and communicate does not start of from predjudice or fear of loss, and then seek to keep face, and so it does not think or define itself 'tolerant' but simply engaged in living relational being.
The attempt to build a world of love within hatred can never ever succeed.
One has to acknowledge the hatred and the fears and wounds beneath to release it.
So I might regard myself as intolerant of tolerance and intolerance - but actually I just don't see through that framework.
It is the fear of hatred and the fear of fear that gives power to them - and those who seek worldly power know this well and use it to get your vote of fear and hatred instead of a discerning presence within they cannot hide the hate and fear that drives their agenda. Now who does not seek worldly power, being free of all hate and fear, throw the first stone...

Reflections on phishing scams and self deceptions

In a computer list-group the subject of phishing and malware scams comes up - as does frequently in news articles relative to hacking and snooping and using personal data for private agendas.
I started reflecting on the nature of scams and wrote the following:

Increasingly I feel that 'scams' are substituting for relationships of shared honour and integrity.

Phishing operates to seem like a known and trusted communication that purports to warn and or protect a danger or threat, or simply to offer special access to services or powers.

In a way a scam operates to take advantage of those who do not want to check in consciously with the legitimacy of a communication. This may because they want something offered such as a cheap or desirable bargain, to be true, or because they do not want a warned or reported danger or threat to come about.

In this way most of us are manipulatable in significant degree.

If a group of people dressed as policemen tell you to do something you will likely do it regardless that it goes against your natural inclination because we are conditioned to obedience simply from recognition of a uniform and associated behaviours.

Most people mostly 'play by the rules' most of the time, but increasingly, those in positions of power as a result of our extending such trust, act as if they own and have a right to such power, while we generally feel powerless and subordinate to be led or protected or receive service from such corporations or organisations.

'Keep one's head down and don't provoke reaction', seems to be what is masked within the sense of 'keep calm and carry on'. It isn't really calm for it is not a condition of peace in which joy and a discernment of what does not belong to joy are clearly and obviously communicated. It operates a kind of conflict avoidance. A risk aversion strategy that tends to back off and let 'others' or 'the rules' deal with or sort out any conflict situation.

In private mode, one might well engage in strong but private opinion and emotion, but this teds to 'express itself' in fantasy - apart from where dissatisfactions leak into our daily relationships. Hence the 'outlet' and apparent escape into tv, movies and computer games - but which generally feeds a negative loop rather than truly refreshing or recreational activity.

Conflict avoidance operates as a withdrawal of presence, a limited form of 'playing dead'. It is not that 'good men do nothing' which allows negative agendas to rise unchecked, but that true presence is blocked of its natural communication. In some sense guilt or a sense of personal invalidity operates to undermine ones sense of being able to tell the difference between true and false, as well as one's capacity or authority to call it out or give witness for what it is.

Clearly the nature of 'scam' is an art of deception that has evolved over generations and part of human consciousness for millennia.

Our first experience of deception is perhaps that of fooling oneself and blaming it on others. One can set up a mask of relative innocence as a protection from a conflicted sense of self. As a kind of escape from situations that in their moment are intolerably fearful or painful.

My sense is that all who come into this world learn 'the mask' and in a sense become it - or at least become confused with it in various ways and degrees.

the sense I have of negative agendas rising increasingly fearful within our world is a natural consequence of the confusions implicit to a masked sense of existence. It operates as a sort of tacit 'conspiracy' of negatively defined self interest. For fear is the substitution for a true sense of identity and existence, and if we do not challenge it and discern its true message, we consent to be dictated or ruled by it in exchange for a surface reality in which we are forever hiding from or even warring what lies beneath. It is true that the strategies of fear are loveless to all excepting a special and segregated sense of oneself alone - even when that sense extends to one's special others or group. 

To be exposed in such a mind is generally humiliating because one loses 'face'. One is revealed 'sinful' and thus rejected, reviled or invalidated as a human being. But no matter who might engage or join in such activity, the one whose judgement really cuts and invalidates... is one's own against oneself.

Once one acquires the belief of an evil or a shameful or inadequate sense of oneself, a split or segregated mind seeks to hide or mask it. While much of our social adaptation can accomplish this in ways such that this becomes invisible - because 'everyone else is doing it too' - there are pervasive aspects that remain active as an ongoing defence all the time that we seek to make unconscious - as if to thus make escape into a world without such fears - or at least a sense of our self free of them.

Truth needs no defence for it rests in its own appreciation, but a lie asserted in place of a true appreciation must be perpetually asserted, protected and maintained. This is what gives rise to a mentality of self-justification - which I sometimes call self-justifiction. In symbolic terms it is the mentality of the 'fig-leaf' in terms of a separated self-sense that lost awareness of Eden and took upon itself alone, that which once came naturally as a communioned sense of Life.

Clearly we all experience what we believe to be true even if later we discover it was an illusion, trick or scam. So at the level of our experience it is ALL true and there is no contest as to THE Truth. But a true reflection or expression of who and what we are, is what truly resonates and is relevant to the choices that you accept into your heart - not least because the movement of listening to the heart uncovers them there.

Housekeeping is a basic responsibility for keeping order by setting a clear unified purpose. When conflicted and divided purposes arise that bring conflict and division - and corresponding lack of peace, then it is as if one has a house of unwanted guests who do not belong here. keeping house is a realignment with what wholly belongs - such that attention or hosting services are no longer offered to that which does not resonate with the clear frequency of your presence, and so either they leave or one chooses to live where they are not.

This is simply the effect of living out from a clear and consistent sense of one's innate worth - not specially above or below others. And the underlying scam that would prevent such a waking and conscious act of living is a deeply laid habitual program within our subconscious mind routines.

It takes persistence to break the habit - but only of a clear choice taken in the now of the noticing of the old choice. For habits are patterns of choice.

It seems too much to pay to live as a responsible consciousness, because so much of what was kept hidden in defensive hiding mode now comes to the awareness - and at first seems overwhelming to eyes that have not yet learned to see in the light.

But the actual cost of asserting, maintaining and defending a desire to make unconscious, that which is rejected or feared, is incalculable - and wears out such that the very fears and guilts and evils that were supposed to be hidden, rise ever more as the reflection of our 'world'.

It is said one cant teach an old dog new tricks and there is truth in that for the patterns become too set. But it is also true that an old trick that no longer works obliges one to learn new ways to live.

The times we now live in are obliging humanity to wake up because the scam that was hidden is increasingly becoming exposed - and so cannot serve as a successful illusion. This is the calling and the opportunity to align with the choice of our hearts rather than be led by the mind which seems to have gone off by itself and has forgotten what love is and what we are.

But the same calling can be seen as the witnesses and necessities for ever more fearful defence against an ever more evil world. The essential event or information is interpreted through the core beliefs by which we identify within our sense of self existence. A negative or segregating self definition will automatically interpret everything to obtain reinforcement of itself, as will a positive or re-integrating sense of self-definition.

It is not the advertisement or the politician, nor the peer group or the family or the cultural inheritance or past conditionings that give the Word as to who and what you are, it is through your own heart's acceptance that what you are finds expression and reflection and is thus shared and known truly - rather than through a glass darkly.

This paragraph was in my morning reading (shared after I had written much of this reflection):

"If you do not believe that which is not Truth, you shall experience Truth. But if you choose to believe the false as the truth about you, you shall experience the false and believe it is true". From 'The Holy Spirit's Interpretation of the New Testament' (NTI).

The term 'Holy Spirit' symbolizes that which knows you truly and which has never left your mind - though it has in a sense been turned away from, discarded and lost. Just as a cut will self-heal, so does consciousness reintegrate - if the cutting desisted and the healing was welcomed, because in truth what is Indivisible never could be separated from or attacked with.

The nature of the scam of an isolated ego power unto itself has been to initiate a journey within perception and experience. It is our perception that is healed or reintegrated to a higher or more embracing inclusion.

Once one sees through a scam one is no longer tempted to click the bait. It is then no longer an active liability. The forms of scams are innumerable and can multiply faster than one can learn to recognize their forms - indeed will mutate as the very means to 'protect' from scams. But a core honesty of self can discern the coercive intent in any or all of them without having to follow their branches to discover their fruits.

To be in a true foundation IS the capacity to discern the same and is the frequency of attraction to like kind as it is unavailable to that which has no belonging or conceivable existence in such open communication.

Sufficient be the evils unto the day thereof means, 'use that which is still residual to your own un-mindfulness to awaken and reintegrate as a wholeness of being' - instead of using it to persist in self-justifictions that no longer actually serve your desire.

The Mythic self

As soon as there is self definition, there is a differentiation that generates or creates experience.

However, differentiation within a unified consciousness is more of a vibrational resonance - that cannot be directly translated into terms of a segregated consciousness, because it Is You, rather than something happening TO a someone presumed to be you.

The differentiation of a segregating intent is the basis of the story self. A self-construct that uses mythic or story continuities to assert its narrative as the central character framework that defines and filters a seemingly private experience.

The personality construct is a vehicle through which to experience the physical or externalized 'reality'. It operates as self definitions and beliefs, feelings and thoughts - with the experience reflecting this activity - much of which is unconscious or filtered out by the surface persona.

Choosing in a sense, to be defined by our own story rather than the energetic reception of That which is prior to the operation of a segregating prism, makes story the nature of our self and reality.

Drama of personae, cast amidst scenes and props that embody and reflect a will to power; a wish that things align THUS! - which then unfolds a multilevel Script of infinitely rich reflection - all of which reaffirm and uphold the 'identity' of the central character in a process of unfolding transformative changes.



The uncovering of the perspective beyond the drama is sometimes called self or Self-Realisation. The motive of the reintegration of Consciousness is that which stirs, wakes, reveals and uncovers the self and its world-reflective experience and identity - from a Unified Perspective that is essentially timeless.

Myth and stories reflecting the outgoing or segregating movement provide the dramatic frameworks for developing and growing themes and specific abilities; 'Man as a process of becoming'.

These are recognized or 'known again' as qualities of being.



Mutual reinforcement is the sharing of core beliefs and definitions such as to 'agree to focus on self-segregating consciousness'. In this sense our subjective sense is always already communicating itself as the presumption and assertion of a separated 'will'.

The symbol of Jesus is the idea that this 'will' can be discerned and truly accounted for, put aside and so make way for a Universal 'Will' which is not other than the undistorted communication of Being unto Itself. In this 'story' Man does not become the Light, but yields coercive distortion to the Light of an All Pervading Awareness. An awareness that the mythic 'self' forgets, usurps and denies in order to 'know itself' as judge or determiner of reality.



The mythic or symbolic aspects of our experience in the world can thus serve the discernment of the structures and devices by which such 'divide and rule' consciousness appears to replace 'Unify and extend'.



"Go forth and multiply" is not an option - but WHAT we each choose to extend and propagate will be the nature of our experience.



The reintegrative capacity of consciousness is the capacity to discern directly what is resonant and relevant to the current unfoldment of unique signature vibration. When we are aligned truly, all else is aligned to our clear appreciation and there is the capacity to move within an overall flow rather than assert a coercive will in ways that exacerbate struggle and pride.



Resonance is a different order of 'knowing' than rational construct. The knowing in the heart can guide and support rational activity instead of being usurped and enslaved or denied by it.

Me, myself, us (comment of the Human Biome-Economist)

Science reveals the mechanism beneath the illusion of a 'self' - and therefore of the 'world' which is an internal-mapping of the self image or concept, externalised as experience. The world being that aspect of the Unified Field which is defined as not self - being seen as outside direct control.
This is not so different from a virtual 'reality' running on top of an awareness that is in some sense substituted for or usurped from Self-Awareness. The virtual mappings or mutually agreed definitions of self and not self, are a filter imposed on a Unified Field - not unlike a Higgs field. It is observable by its effects - and its effects ARE our experience.
Self-Realisation reveals and is open as the Perspective of Unified awareness. This is not a control mechanism or coercive intent upon Itself - or of any virtual aspect running within its Capacity to extend Itself through Idea. From such perspective the causative foundation of a polarised or dualistic experience is not hidden and nor is the mechanism of delivery of the experience of the thought.
But it is felt within a Wholeness of Being that is prior to the consciousness of self in time and space - and yet pervades it.
The initiating 'program' of the virtual self is to have experience of its own thought and to wish it be real. This conflicts with the Unified Field and the interference pattern itself is used as a foundation for a sense of reality or self "over and against". Such a 'self' is predicated on conflict and the overcoming of conflict in an impossible attempt to become autonomous and righteous of validated. Its 'survival' is a maximal emotional effort that is accorded the status of truth and isn't called into question. Its seemingly unified organisation is yet always undermined and eventually succumbs to a multitude of forces to which it seems victim, while its essential underpinning of giving priority to its own thoughts and meanings is kept hidden - except for the more superficial aspects of the mind. In general the power and nature of the mind as foundation is diminished and denied by means of distraction and disassociation.
The body becomes the focus as the home of the private thoughts which seem to be the core identity and the exploitation of the body and the world of bodies becomes the essential arena upon which attention is fixated. Insofar as a 'self' can add to itself the experiences and identifications of success as it defines and believes - so will it persist unquestioned, but in its persistence, are the conditions generated in which it conflicts, depletes, disintegrates and dies.
However, Self-Awareness is not Itself inherently nor ultimately defined by its objects and the attention given to a virtual existence is a partiality not unlike holding an imaginary scenario in mind whilst also aware of concrete and current experience.
Thus far, I have attempted to talk of me, myself, us in concept - but experientially, the Unified Self individuating through the Movement of the focus of attention and intention, is a communioned sense of being, a connected and guided intelligence that operates out of a sense of wholeness and presence rather than the 'divide and rule' of conceptual identity.
Writing this here is a desire to sketch something of a different perspective than that which presumes to observe reality as if separate from it - and in order to manipulate it or control it for its own self -justifying ends.
Testing ideas in my world is being quiet of my own thought enough to discern of feel the nature of the thought. Coercive and loveless thought has a definite feeling tone - as do the thoughts of wholeness, generosity, sharing.
The scientific explorations tend to deny and undermine what makes us human when we use a tool as a foundation. But to merely indulge the personal sense in its own mythologies - scientific or religious - is to remain trapped in surface identifications - which is disconnected and isolated from all but one's own thoughts. While the conditions seem to be supportive, this seems to actually BE connection and relationship - but we are not self creating and are not autonomous - but are wholly dependent on processes beyond the mechanism of control but not of trust and cooperative alignment.
Human vanity and arrogance is seemingly inexhaustible, but it is our own that we wake up to, sooner, or later, as a fundamental error!

My reply to the following comment follows:

Are you having a hard time accepting yourself as an animal among animals? Is it human nature to put on airs, assuming that our thoughts and thought processes are of such great importance in the scheme of things? Or do you feel unworthy of recognizing yourself as the god you have created in your mind?

I embrace the animal aspect of my being as a communion - whereas the reductionist mentality really means 'mechanism' when it says animal - because perhaps excepting the astonishing capacity of man to 'understand the Universe' (Sic) - it is all revealed as mechanism.

Man's arrogance and vanity is in presuming his thought (as the extension of his sense of self apart from all that lives) are the judge and determiner of anything - and indeed all things.

It isn't so much that humans do this but that this mentality is pervasive to almost all humans. As far as I see it, Darwin teaches One Life. Now within our own minds we may construct or accept all kinds of interpretations - and these not only colour our experience - they create it. One does not directly experience anything outside one's own mind.

So what is the basis for what we think, accept or identify with, or give value to? You might say 'survival'.
This seems an unarguable fact - except for those who have lost their mind - and that sort of unassailable righteousness is very attractive to a persona that is intent on prevailing over its own thoughts.

There is something weird about the human - but before one even begins to think about defined differences - note that Being is your human experience. If you can let your own thought be disregarded or become still of the push and pull of identification and attachment, you can directly experience something that is not defined or definable by your thought. Because there is nothing of you separated from it in any way to stand aside and make definition or interpret.
This has been pointed to with the word God - but that word has also been rendered meaningless to many because that which made man in its own image, also made a 'god' in its own image.
But man's imagining is no more than that whereas the capacity to imagine anything at all, rests on a quality or capacity or nature of awareness.
The limitation of a mind to a body is a way of keeping God out.
This might seem unbelievable but belief makes the experience of a separated consciousness which doesn't know it is one with all this it experiences - and yet is the space or beingness in which all that is - is as it is.
The limited personal sense is an expression of the Living Universe that thinks it thinks alone, is protected and defined by a body and lives in a mostly hostile body universe full of other bodies, all of which seem to have separate and conflicting interests.

I feel that to accept oneself as a servant 'in our Father's House' is to relinquish the mind that thinks it thinks apart from life, and reawaken a communioned sense of Being that had been covered over, by a persistent distractive Idea - not unlike the Higgs field - so all pervading that the existence of mass and density is its proof.

The Non Local or Universal Field of Being cannot be defined, nor can it be made into any kind of personal image, concept or possession or status. My person, your person is the mask, the presentation of image. But what you are - or perhaps better; what is Being All That is, right where you are, is the Source and Nature of Being - for without it, nothing is.
We have more than DNA in common.

I don't recognize your comments as relevant to anything but your defined reactions to what you think you are reading.

Are you the animal you claim to be? Or is that a definition you assert and determine true? What is this 'you' that thinks and believes and identifies. I hold you far greater than that mentality could ever know, because it cannot know anything other than its own thought. But you can observe your own thought from beyond the wish that makes it seem real - and so are not the mask - but are the maker of the mask.
Consciousness experiencing itself via form.
The mind that would control, is the mind that blinds itself to wholeness, and stumbles in the dark. Its right in our face - but we look unseeing, because we are enamoured of our own thought reflections.
The human may think it is a central character in a script, but its function is blocked when in a loop of self referencing thought. The Universal is looking through you, but it is your self concept that is the stranger to its Self, not the Universe.

Very little of modern science has invoked direct experience of its precepts. The consciousness is lagging in Newtonian physics in experiencing concept-things as if they were really independent things.

There is a shop nearby called 'Concept, curtains and blinds', it is a funny title because it shouts a great truth - but of course the blind cannot see it.

If anything I write gave rise to any sense of wonder or fresh curiosity, then that is a very blessed (harmonious) meeting place, in any degree, with anyone.

The underlying pattern I see is that of a lobby of separative self serving interest, (that believes its own voice), convinces you, the government of service and representation for the whole, that its voice is your own and you must do what it says or else terrible consequences will result. One step buys into a lie, in which you are 'owned' by a thinking and a will that has made of you a puppet of a self serving interest. But only while you accept and validate the voice as your own guidance and protection.

I am attempting to point to the roots here, not just of this single issue, but of something endemic to our habit of consciousness.

We humanly tend to mythologise everything. Mr Diamond - or even the banks or 'rogue' financial sector are not themselves the cause - but are effects of a deeper cause.

If we pull off the tops of the weeds, we may feel a momentary satisfaction, but unless we go to the roots, the weeds will be back soon enough.

Our public thinking and our political acts are expressing a superficial and self seeking mask.

The desire to scapegoat is not the correction (of awakened Reason), but the indulgence and manipulation of emotional mythological derivatives - that if truly accounted, would reveal a lack of true presence. (The same voice of separate self serving, lobbying our mind for the maintaining of the mask by which we think to protect our separate interest).

Unless one awakens to the nature - and from the thrall - of such thinking, then the scam is not truly exposed, but has merely sacrificed a part of itself for the hidden seeding in the new growth.

That which hollows out and lays to waste, and turns all things to misery and war, is in our thought.

When thought substitutes for trueliving, an error occurs by which a false identification seeks to get itself free. It calls forth a voice of a separative self interest. If you can feel that, then you can also leave it unused and listen with a fresh curiosity for that of your very being that knows you and therefore knows the guidance of restoring a true harmony of being to a self that seems to be at war within itself and without!

Home truths are not manipulations, but tend to be humbling for the self we imagined to be. This is good news - though it comes as heartbreak. A true foundation is Priceless.

'Panic has become all too rational'

I recall at school 'resolving' apparently complex equations into simpler and clearer terms, so I also wonder that if a large part of this debt is effectively non existent in real terms.

The revelations occurring are such as to expose self delusion - and our most fundamental understanding of the self(be it a personal or corporate entity) is not actually of truly an independent power - but is ALWAY an expression of a mutuality or interdependence.

Democracy has lost out to surface desires and manipulation of hidden fears - (hidden by distraction with surface desires) - but what I feel to be of true value in its spirit, is a willingness and a capacity for communication to occur.

Communication has lost out to a war of deceit, persuasion and manipulation. To actually communicate requires a basis for trust. Without trust, defence is governing all transactions and that effectively asserts power over rather than shares power with - albeit in ways that seem perfectly justifiable to the mind its its withholding of communication.

The 'system' could be a system that aligns and reflects with the way things work.
Or it can be a system that grows out of mutual self delusion in order to protect the right to self delusion unto its limits - of collapse, war, death.

The nature of self delusion is often associated with evil and not surprisingly in terms of the inherent disregard for truth that is necessarily part of the deal. But guilt and fear block or distort our capacity to discern and blame is a self-delusory ritual that does not awaken true responsibility.

The opportunity to look upon the false - without recoil into opinionated judgement - is the opportunity to rewaken from a different basis. A basis that is not the result of self illusion, coercive intent or a mask of fairness over a fear of coercive intent.

Individuals suffer a 'breakdown' when they can no longer maintain their 'self' identity - but this may offer a breakthrough of a deeper rootedness of being. The depth, as it were, wakes up and sheds the surface, as a soil in which the old patterns do not work - and are painful to attempt.

"Don't know mind" is the highest state of human  knowledge possible - but far from being helpless, it opens as the only true receptivity. To listen in trust from 'dont know mind', will yield a tangible result for the wholeness of which the part is an expression - and not a prodigal power in its own right.

Reality beyond magic (response to article: 'The Magic of Reality' by Richard Dawkins

Qualities of be-ing - such as awe, beauty, wonder - and indeed love in its root sense of oneness with - are not the realm of science - but of course the practice of science is in a context of intimacy - because being is an Intimacy that cannot be defined.

Because our mind does define reality - in its own imaged symbol and concept - we have identification with our definitions. I am this - I am not that.

This psychological self is a fundamental to all else that comes forth. Like a big bang it 'splits' Unified Singularity into an experience of apparent division, in which awareness seems to be locked into - or existing AS - a mind predicated upon selection or judgement. The psychological self of such a mind is associated with a will or focus of control that can be called 'survival'. It is outwardly oriented toward objects - including the seemingly private objects of its own thought. It cannot 'know' of what is forever beyond its capacity, that is it cannot know of the innate qualities of Be-ing - but that it is suspended or temporarily unemployed.

You are infinitely more than your thought could ever define or 'know', for you are the awareness in which All experience occurs. But this is not the psychological 'you' - but you as Expression of Universal Awareness.

We cannot turn the source of awareness back upon itself, but we can look at the objects that arise in awareness - and so we study 'the world'. But the apparatus we are looking WITH may colour and distort the findings - as a lens darkly.

So science is an attempt to uncover truth uncoloured by wishful or manipulative stories. But in doing so it separates the observer from the observed and reduces its remit to the most gross of phenomena.

Of course there is a value in using 'as if' to conjecture, test and apply or incorporate findings, but 'as if' is not the nature and truth of awareness Itself.

Science must be of true service to humanity and not merely of utility to vested interests - if it is to hold the allegiance in the hearts of those who do feel the desire to serve and honour life.

The capacity to act out the mode of conflicted competition is not our original nature. I say this because I know that there is a love of truth that abides in a communion with that which is forever Alive beyond definition - whatever symbols or stories we may or may not use as our attunement.

I look to discern as best I may - that which is of true service to us all. To do this necessitates suspending or putting aside the personal investments of the psychological self that is forever seeking to validate and support itself in differentiation.

Writing as I do, is attempting to communicate from a different presumption of self and so is defended against by the mind that is certain that it thinks it knows. Of myself I make no particular claim - but of a sense of love and beauty and wonder I am willing to reach out.

The blindness of man is that he thinks he is what he thinks he is -  self validates in mutual agreements - but forever finds difference and opposition and makes overcoming this his 'meaning' in life. But Meaning - (Unified Singularity) preexists even the thought 'I".

Acid trips, self knowledge and the hidebound

Know Thyself is the Law of Being. It operates always and in all ways. Give as you would receive - because they are one in truth.

But to a mind engaged in hiding within its own thought - in its definitions, judgements and experience, the Law of love is hidden - and a prodigal journey is undertaken wherein a Heavenly Inheritance is squandered for the 'hit' of being a 'someone in my own right'.

All that you are remains all that you are - yet awaits your welcome and acceptance while you insist on being as you are not and demanding its little life is your own.

In ignorance, this ego thinks to 'discover' reality - as if Reality is not already Perfectly Alive and in Communion with Its Own! Put down the mask and be found in Its terms or play on in illusion and learn you do not want it.

The Ground of Being rises gently in us all - as a remembering of what was never really separate - and the playground of the night-mind is released of its fascination such that it becomes less and less easy to believe in, find fulfilment in or remain its follower. Perhaps it becomes more painfully meaningless. Painful because that is not your true home or environment

To 'stop the world' - which is of course to disengage the mind from its own chatter, its own drama-story and its own defensive lockdown on feeling/knowing anything fully and directly - is a simplicity of Universal grace. A noticing of what is already Moving in awareness from a perspective denied by the previous thinking. To be aware is not to think or even an act of attention - but is a grace and gift of being.

There is no need to use force against the mind to open her secrets when She gives all that she is to you freely in love.
Love - yes. That is what is seemingly lost in the tricksy mind that presents itself so as to hide in form that love's honesty is avoided.

Love is unimaginable to the mind that demands self specialness then hides from the consequences. It thinks it knows - and is therefor as blind and deaf as Narcissus by the pool.

The desire to know truly - to truly know - is awakening desire. By whatever paths it leads out of self illusion, be grateful - but don't presume the forms that served you as necessarily relevant for others.

The mind of deceit is not intending to deceive. It simply believes it knows and that it is you. But it doesn't know love and so it doesn't know you.

There is no experience high or low that can fulfil you excepting the truth of you - and that is not outside you, or hidden by anything except the desire to see Mind external to you and play out as if a-part, in a private mind.

Love is never so lost as to be unable to call its Own.
All experience can serve learning if we are following the discernment of the heart.
If we come at last to wisdom, we will not be able to give it - but only to live out from it and in its light - amidst a world in which folly is held in higher regard.

Wikileaks - the mind of the mask undone?

Is it possible to be consistent in thought and deed? To not be false or hypocritical?

Is it possible that the left hand knows what the right hand doeth but chooses not to know so as to operate in secrecy and stealth with guile - and then automatically presume, experience and act as if everyone else is operating on the same basis - and act in such a way as to promote and justify fear in the other?



Is it possible for fears to be acknowledged and true communication - reached between parties who have historical enmity or rivalry - such that a heartfelt trust is felt as a pervasive presence?



I feel it is possible - and ultimately necessary - but runs counter to an existing identity and mindset of control, manipulation and mind control. Such a strategy is understandable - but blind. For by it the history of confusion, conflict and their related sufferings - is perpetuated.



The language and models that we entertain in our thought and language tend to express and promote private or local mythologies of a phoney sense of self. A special sense of self. Acting out a fantasy life at the expense of a shared or true life. This is now what we are offered for our consumption by our media at large, but we are not consumers - we are in relationship with, and participant in - Life.



Stealing life from life and from each other may be business as usual - but it undermines all that is truly beautiful and good - even if it works under the guise of worthy endeavour or temporary alliances against enemies in common.



The mark of slavery is fear - and is written on the brows of those who do not look within and find peace, nor look out with a blessing from such peace.



I do not expect any nation to put its house in order but that the culture of its people calls it to order. In this sense I use 'a house un-divided' as a house that can stand. To find a shared will amidst the differences that we all have needs an ever greater willingness to uncover communication - within ourselves - and with each other.



We need each other because by and of ourselves alone - we are blind amidst our own thought.



The reactive and superficial urge is to force outcomes in favour of oneself - or to use guile to maintain a secret agenda to achieve outcomes by stealth.



When superiority or dominance is imposed or coerced upon others it serves short term private ends at the expense of all. It kills it host and looks for the next opportunity to exploit - because it equates exploiting as living.



May your own personal wikileaks awaken you not to humiliation and despair or tragi-comic attempts of bluff and bluster - but to a reappraisal of the way the mind works and its blindness - when taken out of the heart that truly engages, listens and accepts involvement.



Dishonesty may mimic the forms of civility to mask its true intent, but exposure to the light of an unjudgemental awareness rewakens sanity as an entirely fresh basis from which to act.



We equate freedom with slavery and run from freedom as it it were slavery.

But to be and appreciate the very being that you are, remains your true freedom - and from that perspective, one can directly discern truly.



When truth outs us - don't reach to throw the first stone. Listen more deeply and abide with what is found in the heart in silence.



The tricksy voice that speaks as if for you does not know you, love.

Until you leave it unused, you accept it as your own.

Yes - I am leaking within your own mind that which you are programmed to reject.



As within - so without.

Papal visit: Cardinal Newman's 'miracle cure'

The attribution of miracles to an act of God or intercession by another so as to bring about an act of God is an attempt to describe the experience of being healed from within.

"Suddenly I felt an intense heat, like an oven blast, and a strong tingling sensation throughout my whole body," he said. "I felt an indescribable sense of joy and peace, and was totally transfixed by what I believed to be God's presence. When I became aware of what was happening around me I was standing upright and I exclaimed to the nurse that I felt no more pain." ~ Jack Sullivan

Significant to such experience is the indescribable joy and peace. Though ineffable, it is an experience of certainty - but not at the level of intellect. That certainty might later be expressed as belief in God - for it is clearly not one’s own or another’s achievement - and witnesses to a level or directness of Being that has no counterpart in the realm of the world or self as we otherwise judge it to be.

If it can be understood that a prior distorting adustment operates within the mind at a fundamental level and results in an experience that overlays and obscures truth, then it follows that to cease applying such an adjustment allows the original to shine through.

However this adjustment itself leads to a false sense of self and world, that does not know itself one with indescribable joy and peace - but is a state of conflicted identification, thought and desire. The experience of a dissonant sense of reality becomes a struggle of opposition and limitation that is reflected in such experience as dysfunction, sickness, conflict and death.

Just as machines now can be programmed and then adjust their own programming according to conditions met, so does the mind 'lock itself' into experience by interpretation based on beliefs applied from a past mis-take; from a faulty or incomplete apprehension of reality.

Prayer does not reach a God made in our image - who may or may not - (or can or can not)  - then act. Prayer is the true communication in the heart that allows communion to be restored to awareness. Within a restored ‘channel’ of communication, guidance and teaching occurs that serves to heal or whole the mind that has identified with limitation - as willingness is given to accept Universal Will in release of a personal or private will.

Reality is indescribable, and its unified wholeness is lost to any mind that prefers to engage the act of definition. The operation of private will is a freedom within the mind - but it is a way of using fantasy to perceive reality differently than as it is. It is important to remember that reality as it is - is never affected by fantasy and never can be. This is a fundemental principle underlying the miracle - which merely undoes a distortion that - though experienced as real - was never true.

The complexity and ingenuity of the confusion whereby we are deceived as to what is true and what is false should not be underestimated, but it has been established within the mind in its experience of fragmentation and division, upon a false premise over a very long period of time. Likewise, the acceptance of its undoing is a guided step by step process of understanding, willingness and acceptance.

The witness of healing is for the minds that are open to it - not as a spectacle to induce belief - but as a living and communicating testament to the faith that questions or challenges experience and opens the heart to enquire directly of its truth. The outer forms that may or may not be associated with this are not the active principle.

The mystery of our heart’s truth is not a challenge to be explained or to conquer - but is the wonder and unspeakable grace of love. Such love is not the domain of another world or a god elsewhere - but is the always present truth of being itself - of which we cannot in truth separate from - no matter how hellish any experience we might suffer in confusion.

The willingness to serve the awakening is a willingness to live from the basis of a revealed love - but not merely to mimic truths or teachings. Nothing is revealed to a mind that already believes in its own thoughts except that which validates itself. In this sense beliefs themselves are to be re-evaluated such that those which serve as stepping stones are used and perhaps later outgrown - while those that merely block, are rendered useless or of no value.

It is altogether understandable and appropriate that in great need, we turn out from our own self-certainties and ask or open to a greater dimension of being than that to which to which we are identified and accustomed to. But is it not a careless indulgence that waits on dire crisis to value connection with and renewal in - the joy, peace and integrity of Being Itself?

Confusion is in our mind when we take our self image and act out from that in attempt to become good, wise or well. When the mind becomes open enough to become aware of and responsible for its own liability to limit itself - it turns to the heart by becoming quiet and listening - and then trusting the guidance and direction that is discerned or felt as a result of bringing attention presently to rest.

The story of Jesus is a living Symbol in the mind for the way of discovering “the Father’s Will” within. It is not for or from any kingdom in 'this world’ of 'competing wills'. It is for the Light in you to awaken from what you thought you were and what you think everything is. This is not a process of destruction or judgement - but of discovering friend or brother where enemy or fool seemed to be. Of suddenly seeing from an inclusive perspective in which all that was helpful in your thought is retained and consolidated - while that which was erroneous has simply fallen away. When this shift occurs, it may be accompanied by tangible and demonstrable events or healing - for the world experience is ultimately a reflection of thought though not merely of the surface chatter that is humanly taken to be thought.

Man is not the center of the Universe. But ‘within’ man - or prior to the consciousness that identifies itself separated or orphaned - is Awareness - that is both Universal and local and yet is Indivisible.
In this sense Mind Is the active Principle, Law, Nature and Substance of All - including the tangibility of the Universe. But beware - for what we habitually refer to as 'mind' is twice removed from the direct Process or Movement of Be ing that Awareness is one with.

Yet mind is and can never itself be limited or fixed by the thought that is its expression - and through which it knows itself existing. Thoughts of exclusion, division, limitation and blame are not truly creative but only serve to perpetuate an experience of guilt, exclusion, isolation, opposition, scarcity and fear. To such a mindset, everything is misinterpreted. The discovery that one was wrong, helpless, in need, or un-sane - is the moment where the veil is thinnest - and a little willingness can grow to reveal itself as the prayer of the heart.

It is always possible to discern the difference between the call of love for love, and the demands of self-illusion for a ‘special’ love. But only as we ourselves are willing to value truth above the self-image that uses the forms, images or symbols of truth to make its own meanings.

The value of nothing

If anyone desires sanity - and the peace that comes only from honesty - then they will have to reevaluate much more than financial and economic systems.
Everything that we presume real is brought into question - not in an irrational reaction or hysteria - but simply in a willingness to be honest.

Honesty allows the undoing of deception. Our so called human nature is like a program running that we pretend is in the other, in the banker, in the scoundrel. The qualities that we hate in ourselves are difficult to recognise and accept as within our mind. I don't say this to incite more of the blame mentality - but simply to look within and see - rather than to presume our own thoughts to be true and perceive only as these thoughts allow.

The curious thing that you would not expect - is that when you truly see the mechanism of a split mind 'working' as if against itself and yet dramatising a multiplicity of fantasy roles that provide a sense of oppositional existence and identity - you no longer identify it as your self.

You can say we all share in a deception that goes much deeper than hardly anyone will look - because we equate it with our life - our self - our protection and survival. But deception is destructive in that it uses all that is good, beautiful and true - to serve private ends.

The 'ego' or deceptive mind - is an immaculate defence system that thrives on being opposed - for that is its very nature: an oppositional will in a game of winners and losers.

We are living in a time of disintegration - where some of the subtler nature of our mind's activity is exposed and reflected in Our Face.

Thinking does not itself have a basis upon which to determine or ascertain either the nature of the problem - nor its solution. But true discernment and inspiration can use thought to communicate.

Nash was mistaken in assuming that a balance of our own and everybody else's interests leads to the best outcome - because his thoughts remained the property, and under the direction, of a self deception - a divorce of heart and mind - where mental derivatives substitute for true meaning.

Whatever we use as a derived meaning - becomes to its users a substitute for direct relationship with meaning itself - even though it may be full of the promise of what it represents and may initially be linked to real value.

What then is the meaning, the value, the purpose or function - of life?
As a lad I thought that if the answer were found it would make news.

Better to turn the world on its head that the truth be known.
There is no coin or currency of symbol or concept in this world that has not been degraded or adulterated by misuse. But let me say - if you are still here - that the meaning of life is already yours - but discarded. You are already all that life is - yet act out from a profound and desperate conviction that you are somehow life-orphaned - alien to love and must needs hide fear and shame with presentations of self-made identity. An identity born of confusion, struggle and loss.

We never were kicked out of eden - 'tis a will of our own thought asserted that kicks out love's direction.

Asking the blind to lead the blind results in falling in the ditch together. To regain an integrated wholeness or integrity of identity and experience, be willing to act out of the true heart - in which no self is asserted at the expense of another. How can you tell? The answer is proportionate to how honest you are willing to be with yourself.

This much I know - that we do not measure value with the world - but in the freedom and capacity to be unwithheld. For the withdrawal of value from relationship results in loss of the condition in which value is known and shared.

When the map blinds one from the actual terrain and binds one unto yet more devious mapping - put it down. Take a rest - let a true perspective rise in stillness.

Out of the Loop

As our democracy has in so many ways become a farce with politicians spinning for position and privilege in an ever declining pretense to any real power for change, it is surprising that many are more than twice shy of getting involved?

The manipulation of perceptions is not the way to do business or politics or personal life - except as a short term deceit with long term consequences. Of course citizens use the same means to serve their own personal agendas and this is one reason why society has fragmented into alienated sections on so many levels.

There is a 'rightness of being' that can be felt and can communicate itself that is a different foundation from the self righteousness that we otherwise attempt to employ against a sense of 'wrongness of being'. In the latter is all the stuff of a world gone mad. In the former is life restored one step at a time to a sanity that the mad have by definition - forgot. It really is and feels alive - without needing hype and extra stimulation to prop it up or fuel it.

If a new movement arises - it is felt as a shift or change at a deeper level than re-branding the old with a bit of 'creative accounting' thrown into its makeup. This is a universal feeling and calls for aligning with a greater good than any of the personalities, parties or even policies involved. The willingness to work together is born out of the recognition of trust as essential to our mutual good. Despite history.
There will be those who still try to save only there own from ruin and this does undermine trust. We need to identify the mentality at work and address it honestly and not knee jerk into self righteous withdrawal from the larger process of communication that IS society.
There will be little appetite to get involved in politics from those who have been conditioned to consume and display as the expression of freedom.

It is to be seen if this political change sparks a resurgent willingness to engage in real discussion, participation and support for social and political change beyond a desire making life comfortable enough to go back to sleep again. For whatever the political activity of a citizen, most may yet be politically neutered by the indoctrination of the illusion of freedom that is fed out to 'consumers' at much deeper levels than most realize - otherwise we would not all have woken to find such a nightmare unfolding as it is appearing in terms of negative social change caused by the breakdown of the capacity to control life 'on my terms' - or indeed trust the balance such desire for power in market based models.
The sanity that underlies wisdom is nothing new - but the sense of life that is discovered by following it is indeed life felt anew.
To be wholehearted in  life is a wonderful thing - do not wait for politicians, but do be part of the health and heart of this world - and learn to discern the true and the false. They are seemingly mixed up because our minds are mixed up. Real communication opens a larger circle in which apparent differences can become workable in common purpose and a cause for a deepening appreciation of life.

The sense of life that is currently 'shared' in our culture is of an appalling hypocrisy and shallow mediocrity. It is increasingly 'normal' to accept a meaningless and unhappy life with no real sense of a true intimacy of self or with others or the world.

A joyless life is an emptiness demanding to be filled. Chemical drugs offer a bio tech substitute - but dependance on external substitutes for life is an underlying mentality that has to be addressed experientially - and in one way or another we all have to discover for ourselves where our true life is.
But when the pervasive culture perpetually reinforces sick illusion and hypocrisy - it is hardly surprising that the liability for folly is magnified.
