Modern dance has lost its Soul
I confess to not reading the article - but posted to the subject header - for as a dancer, I already have perspective to attempts to impose or coerce Life into forms of mimicry.
My comment:
Modernity embodies a loss of or sense of disconnection from Soul - where Soul is deep and truly Felt Life.
Mimicking conformities - and conforming to identities of reaction to conformity as if 'free' is a loss of Consciousness on Earth - occurring by choice and consent while framed in narratives of deceit.
To be Moved - is the core quality of our existence as expressions of Consciousness. The identity predicated on control, regards being Moved as dangerous, untrustworthy and 'out of control' - and so the flow of Life in movement, relation and communication is engineered to imposed dictates from old conditioning of the power-hungry - who are unmindful of the terror and rage that drives them because they 'justify it' with rationalisations.
We are not Moved as robots, but within a freedom to accept. This is a quality of discernment rising out of a balanced relationship and communication that simply knows and feels where to go and how to be. It is the art of living.
The command and control mentality - with its persona of acceptability-seeking-validation, is the war of getting and winning - for the 'prize' of self-specialness and superiority or prevailing over. It usurps and subverts the forms of any fresh Movement of Life to serve a purpose of control in place of the Play of Feeling that is inspirational Meaning of Life rather than a prize carrot or the stick of negative 'incentive'.
And those who feel their 'security' is provided by such imposition of control join as one in denying or demonising the Divine Impulse as they have since long before the reflection Jesus offered to illuminate such loveless self-harming.
False currency needs to be left unused. Let the dead bury the dead is the Call to invest and embody the Living. Dead thinking blinds with false rationalizations for lovelessness. Mechanical 'joy' reduces the Miracle of Life to targets and tickboxes. Better to wake to acknowledge joylessness than lose Consciousness to empty ritual. At least to feel through and transform the negativity so as to uncover the Call to Joy as it Moves us - and rejoin The Dance. Life is a Dance - to the willingness within.

Faith in Life!
Monsanto Laments Dwindling Faith in Science
Following on from the last entry, because someone addressed my comment thus:
I speak of Consciousness. Consciousness OF physicality is part and parcel of BELIEVING and experiencing ourselves as a separated "mind" within a body within a physical universe of bodies. That one CAN experience and identify as this separated persona is evident. But no one is IN such a world any more than a wish can replace truth.
The notion of 'separateness' operates the lens darkly by which to experience a reversal of consciousness. However, there are limits to the ability or capacity of believing and identifying in the untrue. Pain and meaninglessness being chief among them.
Thinking without true relationship is a disconnected thought-mind - but mind is not, can not, will never, exist as an actually independent entity. While such thinking asserts its 'self', there are no ears to hear.
Whatever Life Is, already is, and is working perfectly. Each of us and all of us together are our own 'experiment' or theme of experience and exploration.
The nature of consciousness itself is integral to my experiential relationship and discovery. It is of course my joy or natural calling - along with the embodiment of an integrated consciousness. It is all a matter of perspective.
When ideas run - or are accepted into your mind, they are experienced as perception. Regarded as reality and then reacted to and acted upon as if true. By the power of your acceptance do ideas run in your mind. Fear usurps the mind but only while you give it the power to do so.
Will you - regardless of what anyone else chooses - choose to align with what you resonate most honestly as true of you in relevance to your current experience? I suggest that although this could be seen as a matter of time, it is truly a matter of willingness.
Holding onto a mistaken investment is like supporting a lie, for it costs the joy of a true movement of being, in which Soul reveals itself evident as Living Context rather than being demanded in sacrifice to a 'blind god'. Identity is investment. But to release all things to Source is to BE identified perfectly. One cannot bring love into fear but as sacrifice to fear's 'reality', but fears can be brought to love in willingness FOR Perspective.
It is all a matter of perspective - and that the choice to assert and coerce is the limiting and losing of perspective. Of course there is another way. But until there is a willingness, it does not appear. To find willingness, one may have to first honestly acknowledge and own one's wilfulness or unwillingness. There is fear, pain and anger in guilt that invalidates Life. There is a messenger here to be received. One never meets 'the world' but through one's own psycho-emotional-physical construct.
The opposite of blind (private agenda) coercive manipulation of Life is yielding (private agenda) into Life.
One cannot serve two masters of opposite and exclusive directions.
Faith in Life is implicit, the instant one recognizes the false as false, for the true stands evident and in that knowing is it simply obvious one IS Life and not somehow 'outside and apart and acting upon it'.
You cannot experiment UPON yourself who Are One Self. But you can engage in conception and perceive idea in which fear seems to split or fragment such a consciousness. Isolate and alone. But how could such a game of powers be played without rival, adversary, ally and enemy?
"It's Life, but not as we know it Captain".
Perhaps the 'third eye' is our true front ear. And 'space' is not 'out there after all, but reflecting an embracing awareness of All That Is. Time serves the unfolding script. But time is running out for the script to remain hidden. Does mon santo mean 'my holy'? Is that not the error in identification in a nuts-hell? For what you give (idea) is what then gives you. 'Thy holy' is a willingness to honour and acknowledge the presence of Life in Creation - that appears perhaps to be a world outside you. Do this 'just because' and not in order to 'get', and you will simply align with the true of you - and have the reflection.
Integrity is true relation.

You, speak of Soul and the Physical Biological World, that be the reason we are all here, how to live in solid physical world, while having a soul (spirit) and making it work, can it be done, that is the question? On the thinking that sees no Soul...
“As I turned, I was this close to him,” as Biden held his hand inches from his nose. “I said, ‘Mr. Prime Minister, I’m looking into your eyes, and I don’t think you have a soul.’”
"It takes one to know one". If you want to see the evidence of the Soul of another, you must yield your ego-centric persona and let your Soul's knowing extend from the perception of the Soul-choices being made, in a willingness to communicate at Soul level.
The world has long been associated with disconnection from Soul Awareness. "What does it profit a man to gain the world and lose his Soul?". In such a disconnection from true presence extending, all kinds of masked substitutes are asserted or propagandized. These have the common inversion of presuming a man HAS a Soul - in the possessive sense, where in fact the Soul HAS you - whether you are aware of being in alignment or not. Truly you ARE Soul - but distracted with a fragmented identity operating within the focus of the human physical experience.
Power addiction is the appeal of a strongly denied fear of powerlessness. Those who are most disciplined and devoted to their power-trip goal and experience understand that it demands the sacrifice of all that one's heart holds dear in order to be free of 'emotional or moral' constraint'. This can be true when one is freely willing to lay down one's life for the sake of others - extending the gift of Life. But it is usurped when the disconnected and disconnecting negatively defined self, seeks to replicate selflessness in 'worship' or alignment with deep fear or terror, as the determining and therefore 'creative' force of dominion over others. They will thus use whatever guilt and shame cause fear of and seek to manipulate via assertions of masked deceit - as if they themselves were free to see truly and others the weak victims to their own conceits, easily herded or goaded to react in predictable and thus manipulatable ways.
Though the leaders on the world stage will sometimes embody such mentality writ large - many are puppets of hidden power that actually determines their range of action.
One is to note that at the time, each and all of us in some sense justify ourselves and our acts as either necessary, called for or the less evil - but this is always within the terms of self-definition relative to the situation as we perceive it at that instant. The urge to dis-own or cover-up our own fear by 'seeing' it outside in the other, can put immense negative energy into what then seem positive goals.
When Jesus said "Forgive them for they know not what they do", there may well have been an outer 'social' effect of his choice, but the nature of our consciousness when split is of self rejection and Soul forgetting. The capacity to truly FEEL, KNOW and RECOGNIZE LIFE is covered over by the identification with the mortal sense. True compassion is a capacity to embrace ALL the personae or roles within ones experience and release investment in a coercive outcome. What then arises naturally is the movement of Wholeness of being - which extends the true qualities of our unique Life Expression as an integral relationship.
One therefore can engage in business or political negotiation from a perspective that neither seeks to exalt or deny power, for it is obviously already creating every aspect of everyone's reality and communication of such reality as an unbroken or unified whole. The mind that thinks it would or could usurp Power is a toy. When a plaything has lost its relevance to joy and expansion, it becomes an outmoded habit to persist in.

"Put away childish things" and embrace the wholeness of being - so as to Remember and be re-membered in Love's embrace of all that you are - as both part of and one with All That Is.
Once one knows drama and conflict are part of an i-magician's trick, does one need to automatically give it all a serious attention and identification? Once distracted from your Source Consciousness or Soul Awareness - you effectively choose against reintegration AS IF IT WERE LOSS OF SELF.
Un-owned choices are generally unconscious… until they are noticed. Every interruption to our peace is an opportunity to notice the beliefs and definitions we carry and operate that DO NOT BELONG in our heart.
There are times to hold a firm resolution amidst the intense temptation of a false thinking and emotional confusion. True power is not coercive, but those who seek to coerce your allegiance to their own patterns of self-denial will perceive you as 'lacking validity, heretical, deluded or even evil. But one does not have to react in like kind and become the same as that which you judge.
Free Willingness might be a better term than free will (fulness).

Capitalism sucks dry
A bit of a tired repetition chimed at the Daily Bell - champions of the free marketeers

Capitalism has often been designated as the least worst of available evils, but it is a catch-all term that has many facets.
It is all about power. About fear and guilt and the self-protective defenses that become the very thing we thought to defend against.
What does it profit a man to gain the world and lose his Soul?
What does it profit a man to scam others into losing their Soul for the promise of a future that never comes - or is over in an instant?
What profits us is determined by what we define ourself to be - in relation to our Life, our world and each other.
These definitions are the scripts by which manipulators lose their Soul for the lead role on a stage set for fools.
Ultimately we do unto ourselves - but in the 'mean-time' we seem to get at ANOTHER's expense.
Win win relationship remains available - but winning from the loss of others has become the modus operandi. It all comes home to roost - not as a punishment - but as an opportunity to choose anew.
While the terms of choice are set by a false premise, only powerlessness is on offer. The power that seduces and corrupts is powerlessness in exquisite disguise. The power of illusion is the opportunity for creative freedom - but the illusion of power is the denial of creative spontaneity and appreciation, in favour of the worship of achievement and self-will.
But once hoodwinked we do not recognize the nature of our mis-invested identity. Steal a loaf and get jailed. Steal a kingdom and be called king. Steal the mind and become a god who lets fools rule by whatever system they will - for they all depend on your dictates and come to you for power and rescue.
The addiction to power uses whatever serves and has no allegiance to any persons or ideas beyond the term of their usefulness. As long as this mindset of rules 'rules', powerlessness is the presumption from which all follows on. To break the spell rather than recast it in a new disguise calls for the 'cold turkey' of the Soul. But it isn't the Soul that is in turmoil ... only the idol or image of it that the mind has stolen as it own precious specialness.
Beneath the mask of relative innocence is the mask of guilt. Beneath the mask of guilt is a perfect Innocence that the mask of guilt was made to hide. But you cant have it without sharing it. Perfectly hidden to that which wants it so!

is it a crying shame?

Another term for Soul is 'Feeling'. We are primarily a feeling awareness.
But the displacement and denial of feeling is in emotional reactivity - which is a mental assertion that overrides Feeling. This may manifest as emotion or as a lack of emotion - but always as a dramatic mental strategy to hide or deny wholeness or honesty.
I notice and can feel the difference between tears that are the fully allowed Feeling, flowing - and those crocodile tears that are the 'poor me' - however dramatically expressed. We can also hear the difference in others, if we are not hooked into power struggle with them.
True control is not applied or asserted upon oneself but is a harmony of oneself.
To yield to a greater love is to trust beyond one's own strategic capacities - indeed it relinquishes them in order to know peace. That doesn't mean the we don't know how to be appropriate for life is not a disconnected inadequacy to relate.
Shame is associated with loss of control, yet an asserted or imposed control is illegitimate and self undermining or dis-integrating. Often an apparent breakdown allows a reconnection of more honesty.
Social mores and taboos express mutual agreements to protect the separate self interests of those who seem to separate from Soul, and thus suffer the mortal conditioning. But events in our life can rip all curtains aside and initiate a reintegration from an awakened honesty.
Manipulation is the expertise of the mind in its story. We all know how to play it and forget it is a game - as if becoming the mask.
The uncovering of our living truth to our awareness is a deeply moving experience, whether it comes in nice or nasty packaging.
Re-learning our nature is a yielding to a greater power and intelligence that is not ultimately outside our true being - but is outside our mind and world of personal control.
Yet while we assert and exercise the WISH for personal control, we cannot discern the basis for such a trust. Personal control locks the mind into a closed system from which it cannot escape. But one can release such a wish the instant one sees it is a false foundation that robs us of our true life.

Beauty and the Beast?
Beautiful people are seen as good looking even if they distort their faces into grimaces of disgust, surprise, fear or anger, according to new research. (Telegraph article)
These scientists are rather daft whether they are attractive or not! (tongue in cheek).
Statistical norms - have you ever met one? (Lots of wannabe's though).
Social conditioning can set up all sorts of socially approved or socially compatible criteria of attractive and unattractive. And at the surface level (in which scientists often seem to live) - these things hold true - as does a lot of current theory. But at the Soul level, there is an entirely different criteria and one which doesn't yield to being objectified, quantified and wrapped up in theory.
Shared purpose is another name for one-mindedness. But separate purposes that share only at the surface level are split-mindedness.
This latter 'meets' in order to get - that is - it doesn't know real relationship at all - for something is always held back and something is always gotten from the other that serves to validate the self.

This is not as 'out of sight' or unconscious as social mores would have us believe and could roughly equate to the selfish gene idea.
A selfishness that seeks to establish its own genesis and seed itself.

Though there is a level at which this 'works' as a balancing interplay of competing forces, it is hardly more than a conditioned program of identifying with a sense of self in a hostile environment. The world seems to provide perfect proof of this excepting that this self is a virtual construct and so is the mapping or interpreted experience we call the world.
How could anyone possibly believe THIS! Well, let that sense be a proof of the power of belief to identify and react to information as true without a direct self enquiry - and I don't mean consulting one's database.
Anyway, I digress. The qualities of Soul - I could say Life, God, Spirit - (but none of them relate to anything within the framework that expresses self-definition), are Attractive to the Soul. The notion of Soul-mate is a rather personalized sense of such an attraction - but it isn't really a personal matter but a transpersonal or transcendence of what we usually trade with as 'self'.
True beauty is of the Soul and 'glamour' might be used for what is essentially fantasy that fulfils the dream subject to our moments of power to enact it. People are generally preoccupied with fantasy and a glance at Facebook shows that this identity can extend like chinese dolls into more and more dissociated levels. Why would one assume our self/world to be the Primary or Ultimate Reality?
The virtual self is a mask with which we access fantasy experience upon something real, and one can play out whatever personalities can be made up, copied, imbibed or carried in past baggage. These are an attempt to set rules and maintain a continuity - and a highly complex but largely tacit conspiracy of self interest makes the current experience of ourselves and the world.
Yes I've rambled off the point.
Guilt is a crippling sense of self and is both a means of manipulating our perception - and the behaviour of others. When anyone is disgusted with you - and extends loathing and utter derision - and you have ANY target where that hits home and activates guilt - then they are NOT attractive.
Now Jesus - whether historical or not - embodies the capacity to see what is ALWAYS ATTRACTIVE in everyone. That is not so far from us as we like to think - and we do like to think all the time, so as not to let anything disturb, undermine or violate a private sense of self.
This indiscriminate defence, is a blindness to and fragmentation of our Soul, which yet knows itself in all its parts whole because it is the direct Expression of the Individuality of God. Not a god out there or in here or in thinking - but the 'Boson' by which all particulate boson/fields express existence.

There is a mental split between the impulse and the control - and yet the impulse is a distorted expression of something true, arising from a deeper level of control.
We all know that the carrot and the stick keep the donkey under control and for carrot, read 'attractive'. But there is a qualitative difference in an allure and a truly lovely presence - whether that presence be Brian Cox or Steven Hawking.

The experience of beauty is in the eye (mind) of beholding - but the definitions of beauty are indeed in the database of past conditioning.
If you look beneath the 'face' there are these creaturely aspects of mortal combat (death wins). Face is perhaps our first 'language' in the world. (We brought touch with us as innate sense).
Most people? Look at other cultures and look at the art and even the old photos to see it is a cultural expression.
Faces are learned. Faces are masked - unless open.
Face recognition is now standard in digi cameras. One can see that with more processing power and corresponding software attractive faces could be identified and selected over unattractive faces. And with advances in biotech - we'll be able to have ours rendered attractive - according to the mutating social mores of the day.
Beauty transcends form but a poverty of Spirit grabs at the form and tries to recreate the experience - hence the database of past conditioning...

Crying
There are two kinds of crying. One is essentially manipulative, but the
other is the uncovering of the truth of love. We get caught up in our
story and read into it and live it as a virtual 'life'. This is not real
relations but a drama of our own spinning in which we become
identified. But Life is love - though the human mind covers it and
dissociates from its true relation. And this love breaks through our
defences and reveals a different perspective than that of 'my life' or
my wishes.
The story of the sacrifice of innocence to a power of private self interest is archetypal. It cuts to our core because it is a story about our own loss of true being to a mentality of fear, guilt and manipulation from which we felt powerless to escape.
There is also something very intimate in looking at wilderness and feeling known. Truly intimate in terms of a deep stirring of our true being. This evokes all of the qualities of true being.
Let our tears be honouring of Life and it will grow in our hearts.

Steve Jobs last words ... Oh Wow!
Infinite Intimacy seems to be limited by a defining awareness experiencing its perception. In wish to be a creator on its own thought, it loses universal awareness to focus within limitation, which is a temporal ideation construct.
Losing the world must regain the Soul - but Soul is never really lost - only obscured. That which never really left wakes to that it always already is.
The idol of i will - plays out as our world, but Universal Will or the Movement of Life remains our only true Source and Condition - even if the illusion of independence is an insanely great and addictive idea by which to think different from God, for a while.
The hardware is in fact running in emulation on many levels of binary thought. When our avatar identity is released, the light or awareness of being is revealed - knows itself - as is - instead of filtered. It isn't an object - its the living context all along.
Steve Jobs is becoming a symbolic function to the world mind - he is chosen as serving as an exemplar of success and vision - albeit within a narrow social technological framework. But Steve Jobs the man was the love AND the call for love - both - like we all are, without exception.
Machine-minded man believes as his structural determinants dictate. But the heart's truth of man is love's expression - whether he knows it or not, cooperates with it or not, integrates with it while alive or not. Love is also embodied in excellence. Art is a process of expressing or embodying the Movement discerned within.
Cultural vision is the embodiment of ideas as fresh expressions rather than derivative template mentality.
He was in touch with Wow! as part of being who he was. His mind tuned into bridging inspiration into practical effect. Though it seems a trite phrase, Wow! is a precursor to Awe, in which we can only behold and be silent.

Everybody Hurts

This was very likely the last track my daughter listened to before throwing her hand.
Suffering is universal. Sure, ego can make its game out of comparisons and judgements - but under all the crap is directly felt dissonant and isolated sense of life that most have to hide from - by playing a mask.
I like the song in the universal sense of - we are all the same - beneath appearances. The capacity to feel is also the capacity of Soul.
Music can bridge from the isolated sense of self to a sense of communion with life - but only if that is allowed. To lose Soul is to gain a meaningless world - because it is essentially loveless.
