- ‘Safety is No Salvation: A Catholic Perspective on the COVID-19 Crisis‘ – Chris Larkin in Hector Drummond Magazine is fed up with the Catholic church’s wet response to the lockdowns
in response to the themes above:
Virology has a lot in common with demonology, (a pandemonium of fear) as the setting of 'salvation' in the frame of protection from evils.
While I see this as the 'old covenant' of a fear-bound rule, that Jesus cast out and bids us wake and walk from, we still seek salvation in a narratively framed ‘world’ made to mask over deeper fear rather than wake from it to a recognition of life, world and each other in truth.
As with the tenant farmers of the parable of the absent Master, messengers of truth are actively, fearfully and deceitfully denied. Such that truth's denial, sets an ever more fearful bubble defended in a masked self-limiting lockdown to self-isolation set in struggle for power - once referred to as the mortal condition.
This is not our physical embodiment as such - but what we are using it to serve. And assigning it to seprate and protect us from.
Masking in virtue makes a hollow within, into which all the ills seemingly resisted by the mask are in fact locked in as a covered shame, mitigated by accusing and attacking in the 'other'.
The hollow sham of systemic defence against transparency to shared being, becomes the agency of persecution against the living extension of life as embodied faith, trust and worth, conformed to targets and checkboxes of correctness or permission to move.
Faith in life is our most intimate and direct Covenant with Creator as with Creation.
But giving faith or aligning in fear, set against evil is what I hold Jesus warning against when he said 'Resist ye not evil' - because whenever we seek to do by our ‘own power’, we usurp and deny the power that Truth simply Is.
Perhaps the translation taken out of context suggests passive indifference but that has no belonging in the Teaching that Jesus Is.
What we resist, persists and what we give disregard, fades from non use.
The disregard to the baiting of deceit is the willingness to being truly and wholly moved as a wholeness rather than a hole seeking to fill or correct itself. But opening the heart is also the release of identity in control.
'There's the rub!'.
Fear and guilt are worshipped in robes fit for a king of kings, while love is cast as weak, and powerless to cope with the ‘real world’.
There is a choice here - which once uncovered becomes a gift through us.
If we are indeed in ‘End Times’ it is the drawing to a Time of Choice.
A period of great compression in which false priority can no longer be masked over and be-lived true. Seek ye the Kingdom ... is basically saying; Put first things first and everything else will find it timing and place. A true relationship received, cannot but extend. A false will also mutiply, but to a loss of awareness of who we truly are and do.
The bells ring nine - but mechanically. The door is locked. But the true church is any relationship consecrated to the Holy Spirit - which needs no special thought or self-conscious identity to recognise our ‘brother’ as our self, for the truth that shines from ‘him’ restores awareness of our own. Why would we automatically think this means seek the victim, rather that the power of love in hiding?
