The article (linked in the comment above) says even scientists cant be relied on to make sensible decisions and perhaps ought to say 'especially' scientists - in respect of conflicts of interest that pertain.
I appreciate this quote a lot:

However - I do this as responsibility to my consciousness in any case. Science is not concerned with directly with human affairs - having ditched a moral basis of Natural Philosophy - and so is concerned with solving problems set and funded by the results of human beliefs and decisions - and has become adept at finding the way to gain funding to engage in research that leads to more control over such human affairs by which corporate institutions operate a technologism of both social and biological manipulations that effective protects the problem as the goose that lays the golden egg.
This of course is not fair to scientists who love truth and love humanity - regardless the mess of complex conflicts and confusion masking both. But then are such not human beings who recognise the value of science for human significance as well as human utility?
All elite specialisations render themselves irrelevant. But the appeal to the arcane mysteries has ever been a mask from which to presume a superior knowledge without having to justify or account for it. 'We have reconstituted samples of RNA fragments to identify a novel virus.
At least when America was 'discovered' by Europeans, it was not only there - but already there.
A novel virus has just arrived and has all the attributes we have assigned it because being unknown, it is whatever we say - and can of course mutate along the way and is really just a means to assert You Are All Vectors of Infection! - and a threat to other hereafter in perpetuity - subject only to officially prescribed testing and treatment as an ongoing burden of fitness to participate in officially allowed 'freedoms'.

We found a virus - legal disclaimer we did not establish cause.
We did not identify an isolate by electron microscopy.
We did not research causality by Kocks or even Rivers protocols.
We reconstructed the virus from sequenced RNA using computing software.
That's our bit!
WHO seeds the story - as if causation is inherently so.
Globally lockstepped Media develop the story.
WHO backtracks while politicians pretend to hold off a media driven public frenzy.
Effect bumbling buffoonery and clueless incompetence consistently.
WHO comes back with pandemic.
Lockdown business and lock up people in their own homes.
Make a virtue of all of it and have a round of applause!
Set the gold rush going by opening the Gates of Billiondollar incentives.
Frame science for profit in saving the world with an antibody that doesn't kill too many too obviously in cross reaction with real life - while funding a new Gated biotech industrial base and eradicating any remaining checks and balances or precautionary principle - while fraudulently claiming lockdown as a 'precautionary principle'.
Lots of technologism, and lost of scientism - but empirical science?
Look to those who challenge false, misguiding or fraudulent narrative assertions.
There's the science - which includes the direct observation of anyone who recognises a deceit by its framing and blaming, and doesn't take the bait .
