NOTE - that recognising trickery and deceit, stopping to check it, (that it doesnt run your reactions), and making a conscious response - (which can include choosing not to respond at all) are an absolutely necessary re-education for this time.

This is a corollary here in our own self-honesty or transparency of thought to our heart.

Honesty is not merely a ticked checkbox, but a congruency of thought, word and deed.

The ability to set or frame the narrative is a large part of this. I urge you to investigate this.

In regard to  disinfo agents we can do worse that looking at Schopenhauer's 38 stratagems - which he originally collected and published as an exposure of underhand tricks, so as to be forewarned and forearmed. But they are often sold as 38 ways to win and argument. However, to 'win' by deceit, is to deny a true communication. And what would it profit a man to so gain a world if by it he loses his Soul (awareness).

Cultivating a heart-connected presence is also a capacity of discernment - such that when people fearfully promote or propagate stories that demand action - NOW! - Or Else! We immediately recognise a lack of grounded or connected thinking. The targeting of the 'mark' is aided by the ability to profile (us) as a result of a one way mirror called the Internet!.

the desire to know the truth is in and of the heart - and as a mind that serves or is guided by the heart - and NOT by a mask of virtue signalling! How real are we willing to be, is how willing we are to come out from under our bushels or masks - and live our unique honest presence as we feel guided with regard to whoever or whatever we meet.

I likes Jonathon Sumption's paragraph back in the early days of covid medi blitz:

"I am not a scientist but it is the right and duty of every citizen to look and see what the scientists have said and to analyse it for themselves and to draw common sense conclusions. We are all perfectly capable of doing that and there's no particular reason why the scientific nature of the problem should mean we have to resign our liberty into the hands of scientists. We all have critical faculties and it's rather important, in a moment of national panic, that we should maintain them". 

This applies to any 'experts'. A good adviser offers as asked to serve the choice being made. We need to re-grow a consciousness that arrives at decisions or outcomes from an honourable and honouring process of communication - be that within ourselves or among ourselves - and of course always both.
